Amaranthus tricolor (Amaranthus ‘Early Splendor’)

Life: Annual

Size: 30"

Light: Full Sun

Water: Moderate, with Good Drainage

Soil: Mostly Sand to Clay Loam

The leaves are a wonderful, deep bronze color with brilliant red tops, good for use in floral arrangements, and are actually edible - provided you can bring yourself to cut this beauty! It thrives in Texas's heat and humidity, provided the soil is well-drained, and loves good air circulation, so give it some space. The dramatic colors are best displayed in mass plantings. It will grow nearly straight up and will provide its splendid colors from spring until frost.
