Begonia semperflorens (Begonia ‘Bada Boom’ Series)

Life: Perennial to Annual

Size: 10-14"

Light: Full Sun to Full Shade

Water: Moderately Moist, Well-Drained, Somewhat Drought Tollerant Once Established

Soil: Rich

Similar to the 'Cocktail' Begonia series, except that they begin flowering a little earlier. The leaves are bronze and can tollerate a wide variety of light conditions, but as the scientific name suggests, the flowers are where this one really shines. They truely do seem to bloom forever, being covered from spring until frost with blooms in either pink, crimson, white, rose, or a bi-color of rose and white. It is a fibrous Begonia, with a strongly branched, mounding growth habit. It can tollerate short periods of drought, but does not enjoy cold; a hard freeze may kill it, transforming this perennial into a warm-weather annual.
