Begonia semperflorens (Begonia ‘Cocktail’ Series)

Life: Perennial to Annual

Size: 8"

Light: Full Sun to Bright Shade

Water: Moderately Moist, Well-Drained, Somewhat Drought Tollerant Once Established

Soil: Rich

One of the best known bronze-leaved varieties of Begonia series. They are a hardy line, bushy, well branched, easy to grow, and will bloom early and with profusion. From spring until frost, large quantities of red, pink, or white flowers are set against the brilliantly contrasting color of the leaves. Depending on the winter, they may be annual or perennial. If the cold does not get them, they should be pruned back hard in the spring, similar to the way frost would naturally nip the branches, and then fed a balanced fertilizer to promote growth. If this is done, they can grow a little larger than 8", but still not too large for a nice pot.
