Cosmos bipinnatus (Cosmos ‘Psyche’)

Life: Annual

Size: 4½'

Light: Full Sun

Water: Dry to Average, Good Drainage, Somewhat Drought Tollerant Once Established

Soil: Mildy Acidic to Neutral, Poor Sandy Loam to Loam

The big, 4", semi-double blooms of lavender-pink, rose, magenta and white have frilly petals surrounding the golden center. Excellent background plants, they grow 4½' tall and have airy, finely cut foliage. Native to Mexico, they bloom from mid-spring through the summer and prefer well drained beds in full sun. The perfect summer cottage garden flower, cosmos attract lots of butterflies and are excellent cutting flowers — the more you cut, the faster new buds form to replace them. If not using as cut flowers, be sure to dead-head them on a regular basis to keep buds coming.
